According to Vertigo’s “Graphic Content” Blog, Anthony Bourdain (chef, author, and host of Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” television show) will be co-writing an original graphic novel titled “GET JIRO!” with Joel Rose and illustrated by Langdon Foss.  Here is the quoted description from Vertigo:

GET JIRO! is a futuristic action thriller that takes America’s newfound obsession with exotic cuisine to a manic, violent extreme. It takes place in a world where food and the secrets of how to prepare it are the source of all power leading master chefs to fight over Jiro, a mysterious top-notch sushi chef with ideas of his own.”

I am a big fan of Anthony Bourdain and often find a personal connection with his views of the world he travels, the importance of food, family, and friends (new and old).  I thoroughly enjoy his “realist” viewpoints and commentary and I am really excited to see what he can bring to the graphic novel format.  I can only assume that he was inspired by his friend and fellow author Harvey Pekar (American Splendor) who passed away recently as Bourdain has made it no secret that he was a huge fan of Harvey Pekar.  Check out the sweet promotional art below, are you as excited as I am??
